project description:
Held at La Bâtie, Festival de Genève and FMAC (Fond Municipal d'Art Contemporain de la ville de Genève) in 2013, Vertical Surround is a music and visual installation that immerses visitors in a three-dimensional experience and promotes their cognition limit.
Visitors enter an empty space and experience the surrounding sounds and light as they wander around.
Music is transmitted through an eight-tone (4x stereo, from ceiling to floor) sound system, and lighting is formed throughout the space.
Mimetic and SIGMASIX work closely to create and synchronize lights and music, and produce a coherent experience. The intensity of brightness and the power of music take visitors to new places, sometimes lost in darkness and very discreet sounds, and sometimes bewildered by bright strobes and strong bass.
Within two weeks of its first presentation to the public, a wide range of people from all ages and social backgrounds have the opportunity to experience Vertical Surround.
Approximately 1,000 visitors from school to art critics visited the installation and sparkled in their eyes and ears.
The different stages of the installation provide special perceptions and strong emotions for all types of people. Some people may dance, some may play in the light, and some may just sit and dream.
